    Central Excise Kol-IV Commissionerate is a part of Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) which is a part of the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It deals with the tasks of formulation of policy concerning levy and collection of Customs and Central Excise duties, prevention of smuggling and administration of matters relating to Customs, Central Excise and Narcotics to the extent under CBEC's purview. The Board is the administrative authority for its subordinate organizations, including Custom Houses, Central Excise Commissionerates and the Central Revenues Control Laboratory.

    Function of Anti-Evasion Unit:-

    1. HEAD QUARTER PREVENTIVE BRANCH
    The Head Quarter Preventive Branch have jurisdiction over the whole of Kolkata-IV Commissionereate by Hooghly District Jurisdiction.

    2. DIVISIONAL PREVENTIVE BRANCHES
    The following Divisional Preventive branches are functioning to ensure to prevent the evasion of tax levy in their respective jurisdiction. These Divisional Preventive Branches are headed by their respective jurisdictional Assistant Commissioner.

    2. CENTRAL EXCISE-CHANDANNAGORE DIVISION
    3. CENTRAL EXCISE-SINGUR DIVISION

     

    REWARD TO INFORMERS
    To enhance the detection of evasion, Govt. has reformulated the system of rewards to the people, who help in the detection of Tax evasion.

    Government functions with the help of the taxes collected from the citizens. The tax levy is a system, which is generally not to the liking of the public. Hence, the tax evasion is the major field, where Government is lost. To enhance the detection of evasion Government has framed the system of rewards to the people who help in the detection of the tax evasion.

    Government of India is ready to give attractive and handsome rewards to the Informers who provide specific tip off / information leading to the detection of duty evasion of Central Excise duty. A small tip off from you, may yield big harvest to the Government. The maximum amount of reward to the informers is as high as 20% of the duty (evaded and realized) and penalty (realized).
