    This Commissionerate is looking after the work of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax having jurisdiction over six (06) Districts of West Bengal and the entire State of Sikkim.

    CUSTOMS: Considering the strategic importance of the area having four(04) International Borders viz. Indo-Nepal, Indo-Bhutan, Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-China and consequent to the merger of Customs formation with effect from 01.01.2010, this Commissionerate has become quiet sensitive and vulnerable. Apart from regular work of Import and Export of goods through the existing land Customs stations, substantial seizure of Narcotic Drugs, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and other contraband goods have been affected in the recent past by the preventive units of this Commissionerate. Moreover, there is an expectation of increase in the work of Customs formation owing to declaration of Bagdogra Airport as a Customs Airport.

    CENTRAL EXCISE: A substantial number of Central Excise assessees are registered with this Commissionerate and the major revenue earning commodities are biri, pharmaceutical products, biscuit, cosmetics, aerated soft drinks.

    SERVICE TAX: At present nearly five thousand Service Tax Assessee are registered with this Commissionerate covering a vast majority of services. Major revenue paying services are Goods Transport Agency, Works Contract, Manpower Recruitment and Renting of Immovable Property.
